Location - Gloucester

Salary - £28,800.00 (+£750 Car Allowance) per annum - depending on skills and experience

Contract type - Fixed Term until30th June 2025

Working hours - 37 hrs - Full Time

About the role

We are currently recruiting for a a police-based Response Independent Domestic Violence Advisor to join us on a full time fixed term basis.

The role is part of the Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service which, in addition to support services, operates a Helpline, Groupwork and manages Places of Safety properties.

You will be required to give practical, emotional, support to people who are victims of domestic abuse. The postholder will be required to work closely with Gloucestershire Constabulary, especially the Domestic Abuse Safeguarding Team (DAST), Criminal Investigations Dept (CID), and Custody Teams.

You will work effectively with the wider staff team, other professionals such as social care, the police and health professionals in order to reduce the risk for victims and act as the voice of the victim within the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference.

You must also give advice/training to other professionals within Gloucestershire Constabulary to be able to recognise domestic abuse and how to respond quickly and effectively.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have an IDVA or Women`s Aid occupational standards qualification however we will also consider applicants with a background in working with victims of domestic abuse as well as working in a multi-agency environment, especially from marginalised communities.

You will ideally have experience of working with service users with multiple and complex needs, and service users experiencing harmful traditional practices. You must have an understanding of legal remedies for victims of domestic abuse and be able to advocate on behalf of a client.

It is essential that you have a willing and flexible approach and be able to work as part of a team or alone. You must have access to your own vehicle. You must also be willing to undertake further training as and when required.
